In the international artistic scene Albert Serra is an exemplary case of director and artist able to move easily between the worlds of cinema and contemporary art, while maintaining a coherent visual poetics. In recent years the Catalan author has been the protagonist of major artistic events, exhibiting retrospectives of his work at the Tate Modern in London and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, participating in the Venice Biennale and Documenta in Kassel, winning a Golden Leopard at the Locarno Festival for Story of My Death (2013) and presenting some of his films at the Cannes Film Festival.
